A nice day in Richmond...
...is like getting out a few hours early from grade school. Yeah its nice, but too bad you had to be there in the first place. I was enjoying this day while eating an apple on Main st. right in front the of Kinko's on 11th. If you are interested in people watching (and not the type of people watching that got me a restraining order in 96') this is a good spot. Mostly business folk come by on their lunch break. There is also a lot of construction and renovating going on in Shockoe Bottom, so you also get to see a few blue collars as well as white. All in all, its not a bad spot to kill some time or spend a lunch break. I think I'm going to spend my last few months here trying to find some other chill spots in this city. If you know of any, drop a comment and spread the wealth.

padows has more than just ham and beef, maybe we can get overpriced sammiches with the ritzy white collar crowd, or maybe try THE BANK?
Who knew that old peephole-from-lockerroom-to-showers legend had any truth to it? The Richmond Ballet Company will probably never forgive you for the "Ol' 96er" incident...
by the way, other chill spots would include the following: Libby Hill (head East on Main, big giant hill on left, overlooks the city, about a mile out on Main). If you go east on Main, about 1/4 mile from the bottom, you can take a left on 23rd and go up the half-cobblestone, half shitty asphault block long hill and go over to the end of the street where that observation tower is. The city smells of old money, tobacco, and slither-slime, but it has some redeeming qualities...
