A nice day in Richmond...

...is like getting out a few hours early from grade school. Yeah its nice, but too bad you had to be there in the first place. I was enjoying this day while eating an apple on Main st. right in front the of Kinko's on 11th. If you are interested in people watching (and not the type of people watching that got me a restraining order in 96') this is a good spot. Mostly business folk come by on their lunch break. There is also a lot of construction and renovating going on in Shockoe Bottom, so you also get to see a few blue collars as well as white. All in all, its not a bad spot to kill some time or spend a lunch break. I think I'm going to spend my last few months here trying to find some other chill spots in this city. If you know of any, drop a comment and spread the wealth.

If a mustache doesn't say love, I don't know what does.

Valentine's Day huh? It's that time of the year when I'm usually happy I'm single and not out of 137 bucks (the average amount a guy spends on his lady for this day). Though this year was different. I'm not much for holidays, love, children or sunshine, but this year I felt compelled to show my romantic side. My valentine: the world. My medium of choice: the upper lip. A mustache is not only a symbol of one's lack of concern about their personal appearance, but it is also the greatest gift you can give yourself and others. These pictures above are my valentine to the world. So here is my love, do with it what you will.

OXOXO
Derek

Things I want to steal from people's lawns pt.1

As a professional pizza distributor (romanticizing the job only makes it worse), I get to see a lot of yards and lawns. Though I'm generally a moral person, I am often tempted to make what is someone else's mine. In the spirit of keeping my job I've elected to start taking pictures of things I would like to steal rather than actually acting out my fantasy.

These are two small statues in the front of a house way out in the sticks of our delivery area. Probably the last place I would have expected to find symbols of any religion outside Christianity. Though the owner of the house didn't tip me, I decided not to steal these just based on the fact that they represent a spiritual belief. However, if I don't receive a tip on my next delivery to this house, I keeps what I finds.

"Enemies of metal...your death is our reward!!!!"

Here some pictures taken over the last couple of days. Went to Knoxville, TN to go see Converge and Mastodan. I don't really dig on either band too hard, just wanted to go to Asheville and check out a show and here was my chance. Converge converted me though, they absolutely killed their set. Mastodan was cool, their concept album Leviathan (based on Moby Dick) is a fun listen. Asheville was cold, but the atmosphere and scenery made up for it...oh and a bunch of good people live there and there are about 9 million awesome places to eat.
